This picture was included in The Retrospective Exhibition organised by Bryan Robertson at the Whitechapel Gallery in 1962. Writing of the pictures of this date Robertson comments that there is, ‘a new simplicity in abstract composition which avoids cubist undertones but seems to be concerned with movement, either explicitly in terms of simplified shapes or implicitly within the actual paint itself’. |
